Opened in 1911, the New Orleans Museum of Art (or NOMA) boasts one of the South's finest collections of artwork, particularly from France and the United States. The permanent collection of more than 40,000 pieces features a range of genres including painting, photography and glass. The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden consists of over 60 sculptures, trees, lagoons, foot bridges and winding paths through a beautifully landscaped 5 acres. Be sure to bring your appetite because the Museum's Cafe NOMA was deemed one of America's Best Museum Restaurants by Travel + Leisure magazine and looks out over City Park. If you're seeking a hotel close to New Orleans Museum of Art, Le Pavillon is less than a 15-minute drive away.

 Tuesday - Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday - Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

    The New Orleans Museum of Art website has all the information you need about the Museum's latest and upcoming exhibitions.
  • What unique events take place at the Museum?

    There is an ongoing series of Tai Chi classes in some of the different museum art galleries on Saturday mornings and Monday evenings. A pilates or yoga class is held in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden at 8 a.m., Saturdays. Classes are $5 or FREE for NOMA members. To register for yoga, pilates, or tai chi, call East Jefferson Healthfinder, 504-456-5000. Other NOMA events include children's story time, films and Friday Nights at NOMA.
