Jamison Ross, the winner of the 2012 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He is a graduate of The Florida State University, were he received a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies. Jamison currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana where he is pursuing his Masters of Music in Jazz Studies.Growing up in his grandfathers church, Jamisons Passion for music was discovered. At the age of fourteen, this love began to reach far beyond the four walls of the church. The captivating feeling he brings to music is a result of his up bringing. This gift has afforded him the opportunity to work with world class musicians including Billy Childs, Wycliffe Gordon, Ellis Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, and Irvin Mayfield to name a few.After being selected for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency Program at the Kennedy Center in 2009, Jamison was asked to join Grammy winning songwriter and vocalist Carmen Lundys Band. Through Lundy he has toured the world and played some of the nations most historic venues. You can hear his Joyful sound on Londons #1 Jazz Record, Carmen Lundy Changes. Jamison also can be heard on tour with Henry Butler and Wes Anderson.In 2013, he will be creating a Joyful Musical sound that will touch the hearts and souls of the world. With a recording contract with Concord Jazz, Jamison will be releasing his debut album in January 2014. This project will embody the sound of great original compositions performed by world-class musicians, but most importantly it will serve as an experience of Joy and Soul.Jamison Ross has a vision to bring JOY back to music. He believes the power and experience of JOY can Inspire, Heal, and Reveal.
